• Discover, Connect, Map: Spatial Insights with Esri Living Atlas in Tableau: Working with geospatial data often involves specialized formats such as shapefiles and geodatabases. However, many Tableau users may not have a GIS background and can struggle to locate and import clean, authoritative spatial datasets. In this session, we will explore how to use the Esri Data Connector and the ArcGIS Online REST API to easily access and integrate layers from the ArcGIS Living Atlas of the World, including American Community Survey (ACS) demographics, thermal hotspots, drought intensity, urban heat islands, and stream gauge data, directly into Tableau to build rich, map-driven dashboards. We will also review how to navigate ArcGIS Online item summary pages, open and inspect layers in Map Viewers, and explore the ArcGIS REST Services Directory to better understand layer structure, field metadata, and service URLs.
