About this event

For the June Data + Women London event, we will be having a dbt training session led by Tamasine Key from Biztory and Nina Anderson from dbt Labs.

This is an in-person event with limited spaces so make sure to RSVP so you don't miss out!

We will start with an introduction to dbt, why it matters and Tamasine's experience of getting started with dbt.

Following this, we'll move into a hands-on lab, walking through the dbt Fundamentals:

● Environment Setup - create a free dbt Cloud trial account and Snowflake trial warehouse

● Build Your First dbt Model - create a simple model and discuss how dbt promotes readability, reuse, and maintainability

● Use of YAML for Testing & More - build source.yml and schema.yml files and explore Jinja templating

● Data Lineage and Documentation - view your dbt lineage graph, auto-generate and explore project documentation

● Deployment and Scheduling - overview of deployment options, how to use dbt Cloud for scheduling jobs and integrating with Git workflows

This session is perfect for analysts, data professionals, and dashboard developers looking to take the next step toward engineering best practices and scalable data transformation workflows.

You will need a laptop for the hands-on lab.

After the hands-on lab, there will be time to relax and enjoy some food and drinks.
