Virginia DEQ reinvented its customer service model starting in 2021 with a new agency director pushing for more transparency for our customers; Virginia's business, government agencies, non-profits and even home owners who need permits to do their business. This initiative, called PEEP, also formalized all of the steps and expected durations for the myriad steps required to evaluate and issue these permits.

The result has been a dramatic reduction in the time required for these permits - as well as our permittees knowing where their application stood every step of the way.
