About this event

Have you tried to build a table in Tableau with mixed number formats in the same column? For example, a list of metrics, some formatted as $, some as % and some just needing to be formatted with a comma separating the thousands. What if you need sub-totals that accumulate in the same table (like finance people often need)? What if you want to compare these mixed format metrics against budgets and forecasts? This is usually quite a challenge and requires complex work arounds that are slow and cumbersome. Join Jeremy as he walks through his solution to this problem using simple structure tables that allow you to keep your measures as measures and use a mix of regular number formatting to create the table you need to support the right decision. This approach has an added advantage of letting users create new reports in Tableau through updating the structure spreadsheet, opening up a world of user defined report creation without needing to republish the workbook. In this session, Jeremy will share how you can build a sample table using this method.
