As genAI tools reshape how many data visualizations are created, health data requires more than just a human in the loop. Often, we see ourselves or people we care about represented in those data sets, sometimes from exceptionally challenging periods of illness or frustration navigating health care systems.
The human elements of health data mean we must handle data with care, considering:
- Who is represented in the data?
- Who is the messenger sharing the data?
- How data may be (mis)understood and influence health behaviors?
During this talk, Amanda will share examples of public health data visualization projects she's worked on over hear 15+ years focused on public health data communication and personal experiences as the audience for health data visualizations.
