Muhammed received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), USA, in 2009 and 2012, respectively. Prior to his graduate studies, he received his B.S. degree in Software Development from the University of Tokyo, Japan.

Chris Huard is the Tableau Project Manager at Department of Health Services. He holds his Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from UW-Madison with an emphasis on data collection methodology. Before joining the State Chris oversaw various data-related projects with a focus on longitudinal research and mixed mode techniques. Currently Chris coordinates a data visualization community where he optimizes data display design to best educate and inform audiences. In his spare time, Chris likes to spin vinyl, run outside, and conquer dimensions and parameters with his colleagues.

Lynne Cotter is a Tableau Qualified Associate, working at the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, Division of Public Health where she helped stand up the Department's Tableau Server and launched DHS's first public-facing Tableau dashboards. Prior to joining the State, Lynne received her Master’s in Public Health from The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice, after which she worked at Epic, and also at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, School of Medicine and Public Health. Lynne holds expertise in data analytics, data visualization, IT system design, and in supporting people and programs in understanding how best to use data for program and system innovation, evaluation, and improvement


Kate Rifken

Data and Evaluation Specialist

Kate Rifken has worked in a variety of different fields from mental health and substance use, brain and body interaction, mindfulness, as well as public health. While she enjoys analytics and visualization, her passion is translating data to consumable forms for decision making and exciting stakeholders around data. Kate received her Master of Science degree at the University of Wisconsin – Madison in Population Health Sciences. Kate currently works for the Department of Health Services, where she helped spearhead the initial rollout of Tableau at the Department. Over the last three years she has helped guide a dedicated group of Tableau users and build an organizational structure for Tableau. She understands that traditional metrics do not always tell the full story and enjoys the challenge of translating and visualizing tough data stories.

Robert Salas

Reporting & Data Visualization Lead

Wisconsin Department of Children and Families


Robert Salas works in the Bureau of Information Technology, Business Intelligence Section of the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families. Robert will be covering two dashboards that help quickly match essential workers to available childcare when COVID-19 struck.

Robert Salas

REPORTING & DATA VISUALIZATION LEAD

Wisconsin Department of Children and Families

Robert Salas is currently the Business Intelligence Reporting and Data Visualization Lead at the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families (DCF). He has a Master’s in Computer Resource and Information Management and has been involved with DCF for nearly 20 years, half of which has been in BI and, prior to that, with the child welfare system application design and development. In 2016 Robert was tasked with evaluating products for DCF’s new and future data visualization needs. Tableau emerged as the clear winner and, following the rollout and implementation, Robert has been an avid Tableau developer ever since. He feels thankful to work on projects across all of DCF’s program areas, experiencing a lot of variety in user needs, knowledge, and program reporting quirks. He strives to find solutions which deliver data to people when they need it, where they can easily access it, and in a way they can understand and use.

Jen Shepherd

TABLEAU SPECIALIST

Jen Shepherd has been into data viz since 2014, applying visualization best practices as well as creativity in the non-profit, for-profit, and government sectors.  She has a PhD in Social Psychology and enjoys helping organizations collect, analyze, understand, and especially use their data.  She’s currently a contractor at the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families (DCF) as a Tableau Specialist - building data visualizations and interactive data dashboards for internal and external audiences.  DCF uses the dashboards to regularly monitor key performance indicators across all of its divisions, including metrics related to: human resources, business intelligence, finance, child welfare, child care, child support, and early childhood education, among others.  Jen is on the leadership team for the Madison TUG where she motivates others to volunteer and #dogoodwithdata.

Sarah Weber

DATA STRATEGY AND PLANNING SPECIALIST

American Family Insurance

Sarah Weber is the lead Tableau support resource in the Data Enablement team at American Family Insurance. Sarah provides COE leadership, defines standardized processes & governance, environment support, and user development & engagement activities. Sarah also spent nearly 15 years in various data analyst roles - giving her real world experience and an understanding of the daily life of an analyst, and the opportunities that Tableau provides. American Family’s Tableau environment includes 350+ Tableau creators & approx 20k end users, spread across two production server environments. She has been a member of the #MadisonTUG Leadership team for 5+ years and has spoken 3 times at Tableau Conference.
