This month Gordon, Gina and a few of her data students will talk about the different stories that dashboards can tell. They will present a Common Data Stories paradigm as a framework to understand and apply key data visualization concepts to dashboards (including those from Cole Nussbaumer Knaflic's Storytelling With Data and the Financial Times Visual Vocabulary recreation by Andy Kriebel).

The Bellingham Tableau User Group is excited to continue a new series of in person events! Are you a tech enthusiast eager to dive deeper into the world of data visualization? Join us for an engaging evening of learning, networking, and sponsored beverages at Bob's Burgers in Barkley Village!
What to Expect:
🔍 Discussion of theory and techniques for data storytelling with dashboards: Gina breaks the world of dashboards down into 8 common types on a gradient from most explanatory to most exploratory with the corresponding measurable Return On Investment.
🛠️ Hands-On Activity – We'll play the "What's this dashboard trying to say or do?" game and see how we do at assigning example dashboards to one or more of Gina's Common Data Stories buckets.
The Bonus:
Send us a link to your favorite data storytelling dashboard example and we'll vote for our favorites at the meetup. We've got some Tableau SWAG for the winners. The visualization(s) you share can be yours, built by someone else, be in Tableau, or been in another platform!
The Location:
We will be in the private room at Bob's Burger and Brew in Barkley Village in Bellingham, WA. There is plenty of free parking. Snacks and beverages will be provided! We will be limited to 20 guests in this space so be sure to RSVP to reserve your spot!
The purpose of the Tableau User Groups are to share knowledge, tips & tricks, and connect with other folks interested in data and analytics in the Bellingham area. Whether you are a beginner, a wizard, or just curious, you are welcome! Free and open to all. No previous Tableau experience necessary. Don't miss out on this opportunity to learn new data visualization skills and mingle with local tech enthusiasts. We look forward to seeing you there! 📊
