Data and Data Literacy in Human Rights: Šárka Meer
Understanding the importance of data and data literacy in the human rights world helps activists and organizations build stronger advocacy. Even though it is a challenging task due to many resource and security concerns, it can be and should be tackled. Šárka Meer will highlight a recent project she did for the Iran Human Rights Barometer, a library of data visualizations on human rights violations in Iran. She'll cover challenges to gathering data and data literacy across data partners and the need and use for dis/aggregated data and data visualizations (vs incident-driven reporting).
