Datartefact is a new magazine currently in the making, with its first issue planned for spring 2026. In this talk, Anne-Laure Fréant reveals how her research notebook evolved into Datartefact, and how research, experimentation, and creative practice can come together to form a strong editorial vision.

The first issue of Datartefact focuses on the links between data visualization, data physicalization, and photography. Anne-Laure will walk us through four featured projects as satellite imagery, light-based sculpture, chronophotography, and her own photographic work, to reveal how photography can be used to both produce scientific data and represent it.
