John LeMay (University of North Alabama)

Meet John LeMay from the University of North Alabama, and hear how he learned and uses Tableau to build dashboards like this Census dashboard. (We may ask if John's ever come face to face with Leo III, the only live--yes, LIVE--lion mascot in the country who lived on a college campus until this year.)

Get ready for some Halloween-ey SQL...

Oh, wait, our speaker informs us that we're not going to talk (much) SQL. This is a sequel presentation. We'll be following up on some of what we sped through last month: the XML source code underneath Tableau Desktop .twb files and the JSON source code underneathTableau Prep .tfl files.

We'll cover some use cases for looking at the source code, how to make sense of the underlying structures in both types of files, and how carefully editing the code (at your own risk; always make a backup first!) can help you update Tableau workbooks and flows more efficiently.
