Keynote Speakers:
Dr. Tommy Aicher is Dean of the College of Business at UCCS. Tommy joined the Sport Management faculty in August 2018, became the Associate Dean for the College of Business in July 2022, and began serving as Dean in December 2022. Prior to arriving at UCCS, he was an Associate Professor at the University of Cincinnati, where he served in a variety of leadership roles. From 2014 to 2017, Tommy served as the program director for the Sport Administration program at the University of Cincinnati, which consisted of Bachelor of Science (~350 students) and Master of Science (~19 students) degrees in Sport Administration and employed nine full time and 12 adjunct faculty members. He led the development and proposal process for the master’s program and created several strategic partnerships with organizations to support students’ experiential learning opportunities and program funding. Tommy also served as the College Faculty Senate president (2014–2017) for the College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services and transitioned into the role of college senator for the University of Cincinnati’s Faculty Senate (2017–2018). In addition, he served on the university’s Academic Advisory Council for the athletic department and on the review council of the Office of the Vice President for Research’s Review Council. Tommy also serves his discipline in several roles. Currently, he is the president of the North American Society of Sport Management (NASSM). He has served NASSM in several different roles continuously since 2009. From 2017–2021, he served as the co-editor for the Journal of Issues in Intercollegiate Athletics, and in 2021 he became the editor of Sport Management Review. Tommy serves on the board of the Better Business Bureau of Southern Colorado and is a member of the Pikes Peak Community College Hospitality Management Advisory Board; he has worked with the Retail and Hospitality Sector Formation Discussion and Hospitality Employer Focus Group in Colorado Springs. Tommy earned a BS in marketing management from Virginia Tech and an MS and PhD in kinesiology with an emphasis in sport management from Texas A&M University. He has been widely published in leading sport management journals and has made significant contributions to consumer behavior, event leveraging, and diversity in sport. He is an accomplished educator, scholar, and business leader. Tommy enjoys running and is working on his goal of completing a marathon in all 50 states. He lives in Colorado Springs with his wife, Ally, and his two daughters, Alyvia and Arya
Dr. Seth M. Porter is the Dean of the Kraemer Family Library, Associate Professor, and Senior Executive Director at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. He is concurrently a wine policy and business analyst focusing on emerging wine regions, further integrating his wine economics, policy, and marketing expertise with practical analysis and industry insights.
He previously served as the Assistant Dean of Digital Teaching, Learning, and Scholarship & Head of the Stokes Library for the School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University; Seth holds a Doctorate in Public Administration from West Chester University, a Master of Arts in Public Affairs and Policy from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, a Master of Information Science from San Jose State University, a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Wyoming, and graduate certificates in Project Management from Georgia State University, Business Operations from Wharton at the University of Pennsylvania, and Finance from The University of Denver.
His research interests include rural development, wine industry market and policy analysis, emerging wine industry analysis and industry growth, organizational performance, and excellence.
Speakers:
Gretchen Bliss is the Director of Cybersecurity Programs at the Cybersecurity Programs Office, UCCS. Gretchen Bliss has an extensive background in cybersecurity, with over 25 years of experience. Before joining UCCS, Gretchen spent five years with PPCC leading Cybersecurity efforts. Her previous work experience includes 25 years as the NORAD Deputy Senior Analyst and Chief of Plans, supporting the government’s efforts in understanding the evolution of cyber since the early 1990s on cyber, information operations and warfare, an
Edwin D. (Dan) Hirleman Jr. is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering and serves as Purdue’s Executive Director for International Advancement. For the 2022-23 academic year he was posted to the Space Information Sharing and Analysis Center (S-ISAC) and UCCS in Colorado Springs working on space systems cybersecurity in the ecosystem there that includes the US Space Force, US Space Command, NORAD, etc. From 2014 to 2020 Hirleman was Purdue’s inaugural Chief Corporate and Global Partnerships Officer focusing on strategic partnerships. He also served as Purdue’s Senior Intellectual Property Officer and its Senior International Officer. Ongoing strategic partnership successes during his tenure include Rolls-Royce in research and cybersecurity, Eli Lilly and Co., the Purdue-Ford Alliance, Infosys, and Cummins, and Purdue repeatedly set annual records including: total private sector funding ($145.7M); awards from for-profits ($74.3M); and study abroad (2,409 students).
Dahui Li is a professor of information systems and the J. Daniel Couger Endowed Chair in the College of Business, UCCS. His current research focuses on behavioral decision making, cybersecurity management, platform strategy, and technology innovation. He teaches classes in the areas of information systems, data analytics, and cybersecurity management. Before joining UCCS in 2023, he worked at University of Minnesota Duluth where he developed business analytics programs and curriculum, and taught data analytics and visualization classes for one of the first marketing analytics undergraduate programs in the nation.
Pranav Nallapati is a senior at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS), pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business with an emphasis in marketing and a minor in business analytics. He is also the founder and president of the UCCS Tableau User Group. With extensive knowledge of data analytics and visualization, Pranav is skilled in using platforms such as Tableau and Microsoft Power BI. He completed an internship at Schomp Automotive, the largest family-owned dealership group in Colorado, where he worked on aggregating large datasets, visualizing them using Tableau Prep, and providing actionable insights. His analysis helped identify the best return on investment (ROI) for marketing channels, enabling the marketing director to reduce spending on underperforming platforms and save $870,000 annually. Pranav's most recent internship was at Power-Sonic, a battery solutions company. There, he analyzed U.S. sales data and created detailed reports using Microsoft Power BI and DAX, providing valuable insights for the sales managers and inside sales teams. Pranav plans to pursue a Master of Science in Business Analytics and aims to continue his career in data analysis and visualization
