⭐ Andy Cotgreave : A Framework To Build Dashboards That Deliver
You've probably seen how to make dashboards look good, but what's the process behind them? What are the steps you need to take in order to guarantee success. That's the question Andy Cotgreave will answer in this session. Taking ideas from his new book, Dashboards That Deliver, you'll learn a set of tools and techniques you can use to better understand users' needs and create data applications that they want to use.
In this session you'll learn:
- A dashboard framework you can apply to any scale of data application development
- Stories of success (and failure) from real-world dashboards across many industries
- The extent to which AI can fit into your development framework
⭐ Jonathan Drummey : The Tableau Metadata API: the good, the bad, and the ugly
Tableau provides a number of resources for working with the data about Tableau workbooks, data sources, flows, etc. including the REST API, the metadata API, the VizQL Data Service API, the PostgreSQL repository & associated Tableau Server Insights data sources, and on Cloud the Activity Log. When we want to answer questions like “Which database tables are used by which workbooks?” or “Where is my team getting their data from, really?” we need to use the metadata API. Jonathan will share lessons learned about using the metadata API, what’s not in the API and where we can forage for that data, and challenges with using the metadata API at scale.
Come and ask questions to our guests!
See you soon
